Amazon Eco-Lodge Ecuador

The Green Forest lodge is dedicated to environmentally conscious hospitality, sustainable conservation and the empowerment of local communities, this Amazon Eco-lodge in Ecuador has a mission of setting an example in sustainability and continually fulfilling its commitment to the conservation of the Cuyabeno Wildlife Reserve.

Location and Eco-Friendliness

The lodge is privately owned and located in the incredible ecosystem of the Cuyabeno National Park. Here guests will enjoy different kinds of activities. The Green Forest Lodge is located along the Cuyabeno River, 15 minutes downstream from the wonderful Laguna Grande. The lodge practices a policy of minimal environmental impact. It has no light connectors, but guests can use connectors in the social areas, where they can recharge all kinds of cameras, phones, tablets, etc. Solar panels are used as well to minimize the lodge’s footprint.

This is a new offering in the Cuyabeno National Park. If you are looking for a more upscale and Eco-Friendly experience in the Cuyabeno, this is your best bet. They are quite serious about being an eco-lodge, they use solar panels,  compost, and participate in Eco-projects for the conservation of the region. I would recommend this lodge for those looking for an immersive experience in the Amazon Rainforest as well as a little bit of comfort.

Green Forest Lodge Accommodation

All cabins in Green Forest Ecolodge are a combination of wooden structures, opening up to the Amazon Rainforest. The lodge reflects the ambiance of a traditional jungle Ecuadorian home but provides the comfort and protection of a solid building.

Rooms are eco-friendly with the environment. Solar panels generate energy, the hot water service depends on the amount of energy stored.

All cabins have a private bathroom and hot/cold water showers.

Forest Trails


There are big chances for you to see a great variety of wildlife such as insects, birds, reptiles, and mammals. Some typical animals you may spot are; anacondas, spiders, giant armadillos, birds such as hoatzins, macaws, toucans, parakeets, parrots as well as monkeys, tapirs, ocelots, etc.

Canoe Riding


Explore the rivers and lakes on board a motorized or paddle-canoe! In the river, creeks, and lakes of the Amazon Rainforest, you will find hundreds of different aquatic animals such as fish, caimans, turtles, piranhas, and Amazon dolphins.

Birding


A plethora of bird species can be found in the Cuyabeno National Park, giving you the best bird watching experience, and an unforgettable adventure.

Siona community


Visits to the Siona Community include a cooking class where you will learn to make Casave a local dish made from yucca. Visit to the Shaman is also included.

Hikes


Our programs include easy and medium intensity walks and hikes in order to observe the wildlife and nature of the area; more difficult hikes and longer programs can be arranged.

Swimming


Swimming can take place in the Laguna Grande (Big Lake) close to the lodge.

Observation Tower

Immerse in the Wildlife of Cuyabeno Reserve in the Amazon Jungle - Day One

Once you arrive to our meeting point in Lago Agrio (La Casa de mi Abuelo Hotel), Our transportation will pick you up at 9h45am, the same will happen with the people that arrive directly to the Airport. After that we will head for about 2 hours to the Cuyabeno Reserve (Cuyabeno Bridge River) Lunch will be served and immediately we will start our exploration into the Amazon jungle of Ecuador by boat. In the canoe ride be ready to hear the sounds of the wildlife, while you watch the scenery changing along the Cuyabeno River waters and between trees. In this boat trip, you will be able to watch the birds, monkeys, and other jungle creatures, accompanied by a guide who will provide information on how the animals and plant interact and balance life within the Cuyabeno Ecosystem in which they coexist. Finally arrive at the Ecolodge, we will settle in each of the cabins. After getting accommodate in your cabins we will embark on an exciting boat ride to the lake to admire the sunset and after that, we will head back to our ecolodge where you will see the famous black caimans of the Amazon. During this journey, you will hear the mysterious noises of the forest. This is an experience you will never forget. After dinner, our native guide gives us a briefing introduction of the activities for the next days in Cuyabeno National Park


Discover the Amazon Jungle at Cuyabeno - Day Two

On the morning before breakfast, you can hear the noise of birds flying around our bungalows in the ecolodge, as well as enjoy a completely fascinating sunrise. After breakfast, we continue upriver to start trekking on the banks of the Cuyabeno River, where you can see different species of plants, huge trees, aquatic vines, orchids, medicinal herbs and a large number of wild animals and birds of the Amazon jungle.

After serving lunch, you will have time to swim and relax in Laguna Grande while watching the pink and grey dolphins play on the water. Once you have enjoyed one of the best sunsets of your life, we will return to the lodge for dinner. After dinner, you will embark on an exciting canoe ride where you will see the famous black caimans of the Amazon. During this journey, you will hear the mysterious noises of the forest. This is an experience you will never forget.
Meet the legends and the Shaman of the Siona Tribe (Community Based Tourism) - Day Three

Early in the morning, we will enjoy breakfast to travel by canoe to the Siona Indigenous Community, where we can interact and learn about their traditions, culture, and customs. In the same, we will learn to elaborate the Casabe a typical dish of this ancestral tribe. Lunch will serve in the Community and finally meet the Shaman, it will make us perceive and interact with their spiritual world, channeling their energies, visionary, healing, and divinatory skills acquired over the years. As well as you will also have time to acquire the beautiful handicrafts made by the locals.


Paddling, Birdwatching & kayaking in the Amazon Jungle - Day Four

A visit will be made in the surroundings of the Reserve for bird watching by traditional wood canoe of the Amazon Jungle called "Quilla". Canoeing is a quiet & peaceful activity, it provides excellent opportunities to observe birds and monkeys along the river banks, passing through different types of scenery. There is also an opportunity to do kayaking on the black waters of the Cuyabeno River. Later in the afternoon, we will go to Caimancocha Lake, during this excursion, you’ll be encouraged to swim and may encounter some of the river’s most majestic creatures: the pink dolphins.


From Cuyabeno back to Civilization - Day Five

Early in the morning, we will do birdwatching down the river, after that activity, we will serve breakfast and embark on a canoe ride on the Cuyabeno River back to civilization. Transportation will pick us up from the entrance of the Cuyabeno National Park towards Lago Agrio (meeting point) for later Continue with our usual trip to Ecuador. End of our services.

Remember that all excursions and times on this sample itinerary are subject to change and largely depend on weather, season, group limitations, group interests, and guide decisions based on passenger safety and organized operations. How to Get to Cuyabeno from Quito


Depending on your individual travel needs you can get to Cuyabeno National Park in a variety of ways. Most people choose a scheduled flight to Lago Agrio (meeting point). Travelers can choose to take a night bus or a shuttle bus service.

BY PLANE – Tame Airlines offers daily scheduled flights from Quito to Lago Agrio, which departs at 9:10 AM or 4 PM and takes approximately 40 minutes. If you find any issues booking your tickets please contact us, we will help you as soon as possible.


BY CAR:- The bus trip from Quito to Lago Agrio (Nueva Loja) takes approximately 8 hours and the buses depart from the Quitumbe bus terminal in the south of the city. If you don’t want to waste a full day traveling there is a lot of options for night buses that can be taken. Shuttle buses can also be taken from Quito to Lago Agrio, which can be found in the Mariscal area of the city. If you rather take the shuttle van service just contact us we can help you arrange your seat.
